Follow your Heart, listen to your Soul but don’t forget to engage your Mind! ~ Michelle Vandepas
No matter how busy life seems to get, I always try to stay grounded so that I can hear any messages that the universe or God is trying to send to me. I try to be spiritually aware as much as possible. What I have learnt over the years is that it takes time to mature spiritually. Many people unfortunately wait until there in a crisis such has been terminally ill to really reach out to God. I think it’s sad when that happens and they don’t try to make the connection earlier.
It is important in life to take time out of our busy lives ten minutes, twenty mins that’s not too much is it and just focus your thoughts on—“You and God.” Nothing else. Just sit quietly for a few minutes and reflect on your thoughts, your life, and where you are today and reflect on how God has touched your life. Relax into it and don’t analyse your thoughts just—absorb them.

According to Sarah Ban Breathnach, up until now many of us have secretly believed that we had to wait until things calmed down a bit before we started to get our acts together. Tomorrow we’ll begin discovering authentic pleasures. Tomorrow we’ll treat ourselves better. Tomorrow we’ll take the time to enjoy ourselves. Tomorrow, when everything calms down. This I can report from the front lines: life never calms down long enough for us to wait until tomorrow to start living the lives we deserve.
Sarah believes life is always movement, always change, always unforeseen circumstances. There will always be something trying to grab your attention; the phone call, the child, the fax, the car breaking down—(This just happen to me last week my starter in my van was just gone I had to replace it, and I had to wait 4 dys to get the van back from the garage, didn’t expect it to happen but it did.) The cheque that never arrives in the mail. Sarah says, let’s just acknowledge that as far as real life is concerned, we are only one step away from dealing with dysfunction.
So, what are we going to do about it? We can stop waiting for life to become perfect and start working with what we’ve got to make it as satisfying as we can. We can accept, bless, give thanks, and get going. Yes, get going with life today, don’t wait for tomorrow.

Moving On
Melody Beattie Author of the Meditation Book and Journal for Daily reflection believes that sometimes as part of taking care of ourselves, it becomes time to end or change the parameters of a particular relationship. Endings and changes in relationships are not easy but often they are necessary. Sometimes, we linger in relationships that are dead, out of fear of being alone or to postpone the inevitable grieving process that accompanies endings. Knowing that a relationship is changing or is about to come to end is a difficult place to be in. Let go of fear. Understand that change is an important part of recovery. Love yourself enough to take care of yourself, and believe that you will love again.

Stormie Omartian Prayer of the Day

When You Need to Stand Strong in Times of Weakness
Lord, help me to stand especially strong when my prayers have not been answered. Help me to not lose heart, but rather to continue to grow in faith. I have entered the narrow gate by receiving You, but I need Your help to stay on the narrow path of life You have for me. Help me to stand against all temptation to disobey You. Enable me to be one of the few who finds all that You have for those who follow after You.
Narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Matthew 7:14

Movie watched this weekend: “Must Love Dogs”—2005
This movie is really funny and a great watch—If you are separated or Divorce and on the single path it’s a great movie for both men and women. Very funny and shows how men and women are when dating as well as, the strange yet funny things that happen on a date, like in the movie Diane Lane as (Sarah) in the movie went on a date with a guy and he showed up with his daughter on the date. Sarah on her first date with John Cusack as (Jake) who I really love in movies he says to her, “You’re kinda Voluptuous in a minimalist kind of way.” Basically, he’s saying to her you have no boobs, oh, my, gosh! Not something you say to a woman if it’s your first date.
In the movie, Sarah’s family tried so hard to get her dating again, but she said she doesn’t want to do “Random Dating.” She wants the whole thing—full romance. The same thing goes for me, I don’t want to do random dating, like one person one day, another person in another week, it’s like shopping at the supermarket every two weeks, when the food is finish or you don’t like what you bought then you go back for more—-I don’t think so! That’s not for me. Having been married for 17 yrs, and now separated I take relationships seriously, so I want the whole thing nothing half baked. I want a serious long-term relationship not anything for 6mths, 2yrs or 5 yrs, I want my next chapter of my life to be for the next 20+yrs! So, no random dating for me, no online sites, for me. I believe in “Serendipity” just meeting someone through some unusual or unexpected way and boom! love just knock you off your feet—Like in the movie I posted on my blog—“Eat Pray Love”.
If you believe in online dating well go for it, but I don’t—not my cup of tea no offense to all the people out there that believes in it. I am very traditional at heart, I believe when the stars align magic can happen and people in general can meet someone out of the blue and fall inlove unexpectedly. Basically, I just kinda let God and the universe do it’s work, it’s old fashioned but it works for me. I believe when people do online dating it takes the power out of God’s hand so to speak, I tend to rely on God to help me alot in my life and God usually delivers and do a better Job at selecting someone for us than us doing it on our own, I really do believe that.
Last Summer someone once asked me, “How can you be inlove with someone you don’t know?” Are you kidding me? I didn’t think you need to know someone first in order to fall in love with them. The heart doesn’t function like that, if you fall in love you fall in love—-It’s one of the great mysteries of the universe as to how people actually fall inlove. Love happens, anywhere, anytime, and most often unexpectedly. Such a silly question. I wouldn’t ask someone a question like that, if they fall inlove, they fall in love there is no hidden agenda when people fall in love it just happens—It’s like when rain falls it just happens naturally and we can’t stop rain from falling, “Can we?”. “People don’t fall in love with someone because they want to hurt the person, they fall in love because it’s something that happens naturally and they want to love the person.” I guess this person goes by the book first, first they meet someone get to know them for several months or more and then they fall in love—Strange. What the question tells me about this person is that they don’t believe in the natural cycles of the universe where things happen unexpectedly their too uptight about life, hence they are not spontaneous-—for them love comes last on their list of priorities it’s second place to them in life, work and friends comes first at the top of their priority list and that they are very practical when it comes to love, they do everything by the book first, no spontaneity in life.
Alot of people place work and friends first above their relationships or their love life which is so wrong, and by the time they reach a certain age they begin to look for love and they sometimes find it but it takes longer. You can always find good friends but it is always difficult to find a good partner. So, people need to ask themselves the question, “What means more to me in life, my work, my friends or a great relationship?” You can have all three in life but it’s about balance. When one takes precedence over the other that’s when imbalances in life occurs. If work means more to you, then concentrate on your work until you are ready for a serious relationship, if a good relationship or a great partner is what you aspire for then focus on that.
Okay, I am laughing at myself because I am on the single path after 17 yrs and when I say the number out loud I sound like an institution, You know like the Cathedral that was built 20 yrs. ago oh, my, gosh! Anyway, I want to watch every dating, relationship or single movie I can find. This is just funny to me, because watching these movies tells me they have really weird people out there in this world of ours, don’t want to meet any, don’t want to meet any at all, especially the guy who brings his daughter on the date, or the guy who kept bawling because he couldn’t find a good date oh, my, gosh! Yes, I do wish like in the movie I had a sister who would be there for moral support when I need it that would be nice. Okay, so I calculated and the last time I was on a date prior to been married was 19 yrs ago, “Dear Lord help me!” Oh, my, gosh!
The movie does show though how difficult it is to find, “The One” so to speak and not to take love for granted and if you think you found someone special then give yourself the chance to love and don’t blow the one chance you could have at having a great relationship.
This movie is funny and a great watch, you won’t be disappointed.
Enjoy!

Movie watched a week ago: “Little Miss Sunshine”

Okay, I wasn’t sure I wanted to watch this movie because I asked myself why would I want to if it’s a show about a little girl going off to a pageant. It’s what happened on the way to the Pageant that makes the storyline comes to life. This movie is very, very, funny and it’s not just about a little girl and her pageant.
The movie is great because every family have something quirky about them—Okay, so maybe not as messed up as this family—oh, my, gosh! But we love them because despite their differences as a family they all manage to stick together and help each other, and yes, they show us that in the end everyone can put their differences aside as long as they can make at least one person happy.
The Grandpa in the movie he’s one character, oh, my gosh! He’s got a foul mouth, cursing all the “F” words like crazy— but we fall inlove with him in the movie because he’s a great guy and you can’t help but love him. Let me put it this way, without Grandpa there is no movie. Some people said the movie made them cry and some it made them laugh like crazy, for me I missed the Grandpa in the movie I felt sad that he was gone, he was definately the life of the party, so to speak but man did I laugh like crazy.
If you haven’t seen it yet the movie gets a thumbs up from me it will certainly make you laugh, it’s hilarious.
